# README: Filtration and Dynamic Image Analysis Data of Classified soda-lime glass beads ## 1. General Information Title: Filtration and characterization data of classified Sigmund Lindner GmbH soda-lime glass beads in water-glycerin mixtures Date of Collection: 2021-2026 Author/Contact: Ralf Schuenemann, Ralf.Schuenemann@mvtat.tu-freiberg.de Location: Institut of Mechanical Process Engineering and Mineral Processing, TU Bergakademie Freiberg, 09599 Freiberg ## 2. Dataset Description This dataset contains experimental raw data and characterization results for the study of cake-forming filtration. The focus lies on the correlation between particle morphology of classified soda-lime glass beads and its filtration resistance in a viscous medium. ### 2.1 Materials and Chemicals - Disperse Phase: soda-lime glass (SiO2) - Manufacturer: Sigmund Lindner GmbH - Classification: Pre-classified using a Nisshin Turbo Classifier TC-15M - Particle Size Range: 70 µm to 160 µm - Continuous Phase: Binary mixture of Water and Glycerin - Composition: 24 wt% Glycerin, 25 mM Potassium Iodide (KI) - Chemical Supplier: Carl Roth GmbH + Co. KG (analytical grade) **Note on Material Characterization:** The materials used in these experiments correspond to those investigated in the doctoral thesis of Erik Löwer. Further comparative data and in-depth material studies can be found in his work (see [3]). Complementary 3D-characterization data, including CT scans (Computed Tomography) and segmented individual particle data, are archived in the "Parrot" database of the TU Bergakademie Freiberg (https://parrot.tu-freiberg.de/). ### 2.2 Filtration Equipment & Methodology - Standard: Conducted according to VDI 2762 (Cake-forming filtration) - Apparatus: Custom-built laboratory filtration rig - Control Software: Custom routine developed in LabVIEW 2021 (National Instruments) - Data Format: .tdms (Technical Data Management Streaming) - Logged Channels: - Filtrate Mass [g] - Time [s] - Temperature [°C] - Pressure [bar] ### 2.3 Dynamic Image Analysis (DIA) - Device: Sympatec QICPIC (Manufactured 2010) - Software: WINDOX 5 - Optical Configuration: M6 lens system - Field of View: 5 x 5 mm - Resolution: 1024 x 1024 pixels - Flow Cell: Measurement gap of 0.5 mm - Data Format: .avi (Video files) and extracted particle characteristics ## 3. Data Structure & Usage - /Filtration_Data: Contains TDMS files. These can be opened using NI LabVIEW, the NI TDM Excel Add-In, or Python (via the 'npTDMS' library). - /Image_Analysis: Contains AVI video files and metadata/result summaries exported from WINDOX 5. ## 4.
