# Micro-CT data for publication "Penetration depth and effective sample size characterization of UV/Vis radiation into pharmaceutical tablets"

## Micro-CT equipment:

- Measurement performed at Institute of Mechanical Process Engineering and Mineral Processing, TU Bergakademie Freiberg
- Device: Zeiss Xradia Versa 510 (Carl Zeiss Microscopy GmbH, Oberkochen, Germany)

## Sample and sample preparation description:
- single tablet fixed in polymeric sample holder of approx. 10mm diameter

## Scanning procedure
- overview scan with 0.4x optical magnification to identify region of interest (ROI) for zoomed-in scan (ROI tomography)
- ROI tompography: 5 individual scans, that overlap along the z-axis with 4x optical magnification

## OPARA folder structure:

1) "Raw_Images.zip":
- 16-bit Tiff Image files of reconstructed, raw data set after micro-CT scanning (data of the 5 scans automatically stitched by Zeiss Reconstructor software, i.e. combined to one data set)
- Header.txt with relevant meta data of micro-CT scanning

2) "Segmented_Images.zip":
- 16-bit Tiff Image files representing segmentation result (binary) of only active ingredient particles in a downscaled version
(segmentation performed using deep learning via 3D U-Net, information about the segmentation approach can be found in the publication "Multidimensional characterization of particle morphology and mineralogical composition using CT data and R-vine copulas" (Furat et al. 2024); segmentation artefacts from the sample holder etc. not yet removed)

3) General Overview of CT data set is provided by "Overview_CT_scan.png"
