For an ideal traction-controlled mode I tension test, the ana-
lytical solution of the critical external load σc leading to
unstable crack propagation is known. 

crack length is a = 0.1 m and the factor is Y = 1.1957, plane strain conditions are applied.

The Figure shows the analytical solution for the critical stress σc for different critical energy release rates Gc as well as the XPFM solution for the stress at which crack propagation occurs.
