<title>Analysis of water quality parameters and pharmaceutical trace substances for different solid fractions in a combined sewer.</title>
<link>https://opara.zih.tu-dresden.de/xmlui/handle/123456789/5736</link>
<description>Analysis of water quality parameters and pharmaceutical trace substances for different solid fractions in a combined sewer.
Grüner, Stefan; Mayer, Robin Pascal; Krebs, Peter
The wastewater composition was determined at a combined sewer of the city of Dresden using in situ UV-Vis measurement technology, referenced by wet-chemical analysis of collected samples and additionally a determination of pharmaceutical trace substances was carried out.&#13;
&#13;
This data set was used for the publication of the doctoral thesis "Multiparameteranalyse und pharmazeutische  Spurenstoffuntersuchung im Mischwasserkanal" of Stefan Grüner. (link: https://nbn-resolving.org/urn:nbn:de:bsz:14-qucosa2-793815).&#13;
&#13;
The aim of this work was to extend the system understanding of wastewater composition beyond the standard analytical parameters by using in situ UV-Vis measurement techniques, enhanced by the determination of pharmaceutical trace substances for different solid fractions.
Naming convention of lab parameters (the following additions were used for a more precise classification): '_total' - Analysis of the raw sample was performed. '_63' - Analysis of the fractionated sample from 0,45 to 63 µm was performed. '_mf' - Analysis of the membrane filteres sample (&lt;=0,45 µm) was performed.&#13;
&#13;
Further information on pharmaceutical trace substance analysis: Values above 10000 ng/L and 20000 ng/L indicate that the limit of quantification of the measuring instrument was exceeded. A incorrect measurement could not be entirely excluded. It is recommended to treat the values as outliers and exclude them from evaluations. The determination of measured values for levetiracetam was affected by a high degree of uncertainty. This must be taken into account when carrying out evaluations for this parameter.&#13;
&#13;
PhD related information: The 'mp'-values were not used in PhD for the data sets for calibration and validation using linear regression. Since they are the wet chemical analysis results of the individual samples already considered. Values that where treated as outliers and not used for evaluation within PhD:&#13;
CODmf: 308 [mg/L] (2018-03-28 07:15:00 CEST),&#13;
Pregabalin: 37,66 [ng/L] (2019-10-07 21:00:30 CEST).&#13;
All pharamceutical concentrations below the threeshold of measuring device (tagged with '&lt;') where treated as '0' within PhD. The determination of measured values for levetiracetam was affected by a high degree of uncertainty. Within the doctoral thesis, substances ciprofloxacin and levofloxacin were not evaluated, due to the limited data base.

Engelmann, Christian
This data collection includes the Python script used for image processing and analysis as described in the article "Quantification of uncertainties from image processing and analysis in laboratory-scale DNAPL migration experiments evaluated by reflective optical imaging" by Engelmann et al. submitted to Journal "Water" in 2019. Exemplary raw images generated from laboratory-scale tank experiments for DNAPL migration are included as well.

Engelmann, Christian; Händel, Falk
Data includes water contents and concentrations of selected observation points as well as cumulated mass fluxes at selected flux lines generated by different Hydrus 2D/3D numerical models.&#13;
Location of observation points and flux lines as well as numerical model properties can be accessed from article: Evaluation of Decentralized, Closely-Spaced Precipitation Water and Treated Waste Water Infiltration by Händel et al. as submitted to Journal "Water" in 2018.&#13;
These data has been used in the Python script for data preparation, processing, assessment and visualization.
