<title>Comparative validation of machine learning algorithms for surgical workflow and skill analysis with the HeiChole benchmark</title>
<link>https://opara.zih.tu-dresden.de/xmlui/handle/123456789/6085</link>
<description>Comparative validation of machine learning algorithms for surgical workflow and skill analysis with the HeiChole benchmark
van der Linden, Lize Mari; Wagner, Martin; Bodenstedt, Sebastian; Speidel, Stefanie
The data consists of endoscopic videos from general surgery operating rooms. The data was obtained during laparoscopic surgeries at the University Hospital of Heidelberg and its affiliate hospitals, forming a joint center of excellence for minimally invasive surgery. All surgeries were annotated framewise for surgical phases by surgical experts. Furthermore certain surgical actions, instrument usage and surgical skill levels were annotated. The surgeries recorded are laparoscopic gallbladder removals (cholecystectomy).&#13;
&#13;
The dataset consists out of at least 30 different recorded surgeries from three hospitals. For each surgery, the video captured by the endoscope is provided. To ensure anonymity, frames corresponding to extra-abdominal views are censored by entirely white (RGB 255 255 255) frames.&#13;
&#13;
The data will be released in three different sets: 2 training sets (the first set containing at least 12 videos and the second set containing at least 12 videos), which include framewise annotation of surgical phase, instrument usage, actions of surgeon and assistant as well as surgical skill. A testing set consisting of at least 6 videos will be provided.

<title>Dresden in vivo OCT Dataset of the Middle Ear</title>
<link>https://opara.zih.tu-dresden.de/xmlui/handle/123456789/6047</link>
<description>Dresden in vivo OCT Dataset of the Middle Ear
Steuer, Svea; Golde, Jonas; Morgenstern, Joseph; Liu, Peng
The data collection contains 43 optical coherence tomography (OCT) volumes from both healthy and pathological middle ears of 29 subjects recorded with a non-invasive endoscopic OCT device applicable in vivo. Due to the shadowing of preceding structures interpreting such OCT volumes needs expertise and is time-consuming. Nowadays, deep neural networks have emerged to facilitate this process regarding segmentation, classification and registration. Hence, the dataset offers semantic segmentations of five crucial anatomical structures (tympanic membrane, malleus, incus, stapes and promontory), and sparse landmarks delineating the salient features of the structures additionally. The complete dataset provides the possibility to develop and train own networks and algorithms for the evaluation of middle ear OCT volumes.

<description>Dental anxiety and psychologial distress in 263 patients from Albania and Germany
Berth, Hendrik
The dataset contains questionnaire data from 263 patients (N = 133 Germans and N = 130 Albanians). All patients completed the questionnaires Dental Anxiety Scale (DAS) and the Brief Symptom Inventory (BSI-18). Patients also answered questions about their oral health and dental care (e.g. tooth brushing, dental visits, tartar removal, professional teeth cleaning). Data collection took place between December 2019 and July 2020.
