Research data on measured solubility of insect fat in compressed CO2
(Technische Universität Bergakademie Freiberg, 2025-06-12) Goldberg, Tom; Herdegen, Volker
The data file ('Solubility data.txt') contains the measured solubility data of insect fat (Black soldier fly larvae, Hermetia illucens) in compressed CO2 according to the publication "Solubility of insect fat in compressed CO2: Experiments and density- as well as activity-based modeling" by Goldberg, T. & Herdegen, V. (2025). Measurements were conducted at 4 set temperatures (298, 315, 336, 353 K) over a wide pressure range (15 to 60 MPa). The dataset includes all measured solubilities, each determined in at least duplicate, together with the corresponding temperature and pressure conditions (means and standard deviations). The given CO2 densities were calculated using the Bender equation of state, with their maximum fluctuation range resulting from the standard deviations in temperature and pressure. Except for 3 selected data points that refer to the crude insect fat (attached at the end of the file), all measurements were performed using the pre-cleaned insect fat obtained from liquid-liquid extraction with hexane and water. Further information on physicochemical properties and the fatty acid profile of the insect fat, as well as a detailed description of the experimental procedure, can be found in the associated publication.

Research data on vapor-liquid equilibria of organic carbonates (DMC, EMC, DEC, EC, and PC) at 101.3, 25.0, and 5.0 kPa, as well as vapor pressure data
(Technische Universität Bergakademie Freiberg, 2026-08-25) Goldberg, Tom
The reported data correspond to the following publication: Tom Goldberg, Volker Herdegen, Andreas S. Braeuer “Isobaric vapor-liquid equilibria of binary and multicomponent organic carbonate mixtures (DMC, EMC, DEC, EC, and PC) at 101.3, 25.0, and 5.0 kPa” Journal of Chemical & Engineering Data, 2026 All measurements were carried out using the all-glass dynamic recirculation still “Labodest VLE 602” (i-Fischer Engineering GmbH, Germany). Detailed information about the materials, experimental setup, experimental procedure, and standard uncertainties can be found in the associated publication. The file “Vapor_pressure_data.txt” contains vapor pressure data for each of the five pure organic carbonates: dimethyl carbonate (DMC), ethyl methyl carbonate (EMC), diethyl carbonate (DEC), ethylene carbonate (EC), and propylene carbonate (PC). The file “Binary_VLE_data.txt” contains binary vapor-liquid equilibrium (VLE) data for all 10 binary combinations of the five organic carbonates. The measurements were performed at 101.3 kPa and 25.0 kPa, with the exception of the PC–EC system. For PC–EC, measurements were performed at 25.0 kPa and 5.0 kPa due to observed thermal degradation at temperatures above approximately 483–493 K. The file “Multicomponent_VLE_data.txt” contains ternary VLE data for the systems DMC–EMC–DEC, DMC–DEC–PC, and EMC–PC–EC, as well as quinary VLE data.
