Item Open Access Dataset for object detection of charcoal kiln sites(Technische Universität Dresden, 2025-12-18) Rünger, Carolin; Neubauer, Grit; Zamboni, Pedro; Van der Maaten-Theunissen, Marieke; Eltner, AnetteThis dataset provides a collection of processed airborne LiDAR data and associated annotations of historical charcoal kiln sites in the Erzgebirgskreis district of Saxony, Germany for object detection. The starting point is raw LiDAR data, from which a digital terrain model (DTM) was first derived. Based on this, various DTM derivatives were calculated, which are used as three-channel input data (hillshade, slope and sky-view factor) for a convolutional neural network. The dataset includes training, validation and test data, including annotations, as well as trained model weights and configuration files for inference. In addition, model predictions for test areas in the Ore Mountains (Saxony) and for the Kermeter mountain range in the Rureifel (North Rhine-Westphalia) are included. To ensure reproducibility, suitable Conda environments for training and inference with MMDetection v2.28.2 are also provided.Item Open Access Geometric-Semantic-Model and Platform for pavement loading and response monitoring of a German Highway(Technische Universität Dresden, 2025-11-06) Crampen, David; Hartung, Felix; Effkemann, Christoph; Becker, Ralf; Blankenbach, JörgThis data publication contains the data and derivatives corresponding to the geometric-semantic model generated as foundation for the interactive visualization of the Unreal engine-based digital shadow platform for sensor data management and simulation integration for the use case Weigh-in-Motion (WIM) and pavement response analysis. The Demonstrator "3D Interactive Visualization and Physical Mockup of a WIM Research Site" of the DFG Collaborative Research Center SFB/TRR 339 “Digital Twin Road” represents a case study for evaluating the feasibility of integrating multiple monitoring subsystems into a single source of truth representing the main components of a digital shadow system. The system integrates WIM system measurements, simulated pavement deformations and a real-time connection to a small-scale physical mock-up, where vehicle positions and proxy vehicle loading measurements can be monitored in real time. This demonstrates the feasibility of sensor data integration into a single-source-of-truth and linkage of real-time capable pavement analysis simulations into a high fidelity 3D monitoring environment, allowing interaction with the physical environment.Item Open Access Manually delineated glacier calving front locations of 20 marine-terminating glaciers of the Antarctic Peninsula from 2013 to 2023(Technische Universität Dresden, 2024-07-23) Loebel, Erik; Baumhoer, Celia; Dietz, Andreas; Scheinert, Mirko; Horwath, MartinThis dataset provides 312 manually delineated glacier calving front positions of 20 marine-terminating glaciers of the Antarctic Peninsula from 2013 to 2023. For manual delineation, we used optical Landsat-8 and Landsat-9 imagery. We provide ocean masks and frontal positions as Polygon/LineString Shapefiles and in a georeferenced tif format. The following glaciers are included in this data record: Birley Glacier, Bleriot Glacier, Boydell Glacier, Cayley Glacier, Crane Glacier, Dinsmore-Bombardier-Edgeworth Glacier system, Drygalski Glacier, Drummond Glacier, Fleming Glacier, Hariot Glacier, Hektoria-Green-Evans Glacier system, Hugi Glacier, Jorum Glacier, Murphy Wilkinson Glacier, Prospect Glacier, Punchbowl Glacier, Sjogren Glacier, Stringfellow Glacier, Trooz Glacier and Widdowson Glacier.Item Open Access S4F: Fuel Loads, Fuel Moisture, Fuel Consumption and Fire Emissions for the Cerrado Amazon Region(Technische Universität Dresden, 2024-12-20) Forkel, Matthias; Kinalczyk, Daniel; Wessollek, ChristineThis repository provides datasets of fuels and fire emissions for the Amazon and Cerrado that were derived and analysed in the publication by Forkel et al. (2024). This publication demonstrates the first application and benchmarking of the TUD.S4F and KNMI.S5p approaches to estimate fire emissions and to investigate the effects of woody debris on fire emissions. TUD.S4F, developed at TUD Dresden University of Technology, is a satellite data-model fusion approach that combines several satellite products to estimate fuel loads, fuel moisture, fuel consumption, and fire emissions. Emission factors are computed dynamically depending on fuel type and fuel composition. TUD.S4F (version 0.2) is described in the Methods and Supplementary material of Forkel et al. (2024) and the related model code is available here: https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.14274230. TUD-S4F provides fuel loads, fuel consumption and fire emissions at a spatial resolution of 333 x 333 m and aggregated to 0.1 x 0.1° for the Amazon/Cerrado for the period 2014-01-01 to 2021-10-20 at 10-daily time step. KNMI.S5p provides fire emission for carbon monoxide (CO) and nitrogen oxides (NO) derived from Sentinel-5p observations. The data is provided at 0.1 x 0.1° and at daily time step for the year 2020. Both TUD.S4F and KNMI.S5p are products of the Sense4Fire projected, awarded from the European Space Agency to TU Dresden, the Royal Dutch Meteorological Institute (KNMI) and BeZero Carbon Ltd.Item Open Access Structure from motion cross-scale dataset on agricultural areas in eastern Germany over a period of 3.5 years – plot scale, single slope scale, and catchment scale(Technische Universität Dresden, 2026-02-05) Epple, Lea; Eltner, Anette; Grothum, Oliver; Bienert, AnneThis study presents a unpresented approach to enhance soil erosion modelling through the utilisation of nested high-resolution spatio-temporal data obtained through structure from motion (SfM) photogrammetry. This technique permits comprehensive observation of soil surface elevation changes during precipitation events, encompassing data acquisition at diverse scales, from plot to slope to micro-catchment. The study presents a unique dataset that integrates high-resolution time-lapse photogrammetry, field measurements, and UAV (uncrewed aerial vehicle) photogrammetric data, collected over nearly four years. This dataset is intended to enhance the understanding of soil erosion processes and serve as a valuable resource for model evaluation and calibration. The authors encourage the broader scientific community to utilise and expand this dataset, which is expected to contribute to the development of more accurate soil erosion models, thereby improving predictions and management strategies.Item Open Access Terminus area change of 42 key glaciers of the Antarctic Peninsula from 2013 to 2023 derived from remote sensing and deep learning(Technische Universität Dresden, 2024-07-23) Loebel, Erik; Baumhoer, Celia A.; Dietz, Andreas; Scheinert, Mirko; Horwath, MartinGlacier terminus area changes are derived using the rectilinear box method applied to time series of glacier calving front locations.
