The optical imagery consists of true orthophoto mosaics (DOP) provided in both RGB and CIR (colour infrared) formats. The original four-channel imagery (blue, green, red, near infrared) was split into two three-channel products: RGB (red, green, blue) and CIR (green, red, near infrared). The images are delivered as 8-bit georeferenced TIFF files accompanied by TFW world files. The ground sampling distance is 0.50 m. Each tile covers an area of 2000 m × 2000 m, and the full dataset contains 238 tiles. File naming follows the scheme ccc_aEEENNN.tif, where ccc indicates the channel combination (rgb or cir), and EEE/NNN encode the east and north coordinates of the lower-left image corner. The coordinate reference system of the DOP data is EPSG:102359. - Example: rgb_a464638.tif, cir_a464638.tif -- left east coordinate: 3.464.000,00 m -- lower north coordinate: 5.638.000,00 m The elevation data are based on airborne laser scanning (ALS). The point cloud is provided separately for first-echo and last-echo returns. Last-echo data additionally include intensity values. The laser data have a vertical resolution of 0.01 m and were acquired in 281 flight strips. Raw point cloud data are stored strip-wise in binary format. File naming conventions are as follows: dat*i.3d3i for last-echo point clouds (northing, easting, height, intensity, time), dat*f.3d3 for first-echo point clouds (northing, easting, height, time), and accompanying .txt files containing additional metadata. From the ALS data, a Digital Terrain Model (DTM) and a Digital Surface Model (DSM) were derived, each provided in a 1 m raster grid. The primary horizontal reference system of the project is ETRS89 / Transverse Mercator zone 33 (ETRS-TM33) based on the GRS80 ellipsoid. Heights are given as ellipsoidal heights in the NN vertical reference system. The absolute positional accuracy is better than ±0.50 m horizontally and ±0.15 m vertically. Some DTM/DSM products are also provided in additional national coordinate systems: - L6_2_DTM.sid and L6_2_DSM.sid: CZ_S-JTSK / Krovak (Bpv vertical system), EPSG:5513 / 5514 - L6_4_DTM.sid and L6_4_DSM.sid: DE_RD/83 / GK_3 with DHHN92 height system, EPSG:3398 / 3399

Description of the data
Type

The dataset comprises multiple remote sensing and geospatial data products collected within the framework of the INTERREG IIIA GeNeSiS project. It includes true orthophoto mosaics, airborne laser scanning data, and derived elevation models. When using this dataset in any publication, the dataset itself must be cited in the references. Users must acknowledge the author as well as the INTERREG IIIA GeNeSiS project, including the full project title and the financial support from the EU INTERREG IIIA initiative. The ownership of all generated data and reports lies with the Institute of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, Chair of Remote Sensing (represented by the Professorship in Environmental Remote Sensing), Dresden University of Technology, 01062 Dresden, Germany.

Abstract of the dataset
dc.description.abstract

The digital data has been created during an INTERREG IIIA project in the period from January 2004 up to December 2006. The main task of the project is the planning and finalisation of activities to create a homogeneous geographic data set including high accuracy topographic and optical data for the whole cross-border national park region Saxon- Bohemian Switzerland. Data acquisition was provided using one sensor system without splitting the region into several parts. Laser scanner data with a minimum of 1 measurement point per square meter and 50% overlap across flight direction, colour infrared and RGB imagery have been collected simultaneously. After the successful finalisation of data acquisition all the data was processed in order to produce high quality digital terrain models (DTM) and high resolution true ortho imagery mosaics. The data acquisition has been taken by TopoSys GmbH (Biberach, Germany) in Spring 2005 using the FALCONII sensor system. The mission was flown in March in the period from April 14th, 2005 to May 1st, 2005 (16 flights on 11 days). The true ortho imagery mosaic was completely created by TopoSys.
