Goal: Characterise the influence of aquifer properties and external stresses on DNAPL source zone architecture by deriving transformation techniques to convert complex to effective source geometries through a combination of laboratory-scale experiments and numerical modelling. Partners are the Helmholtz-Centre for Environmental Research-UFZ, the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, U.S., and the Faculty of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin, U.S.
