Measurement images of experiment with an underwater triangulation sensor
The collection contains data on volumetric water content, soil temperature and carbon dioxide concentration from three subsoil observatories. It also contains data on soil respiration measurements, isotopic data of the soil atmosphere and diffusion parameters for CO2 flux modelling. The file column description contains information on the headings and units for each data file
This dataset was created to provide measurements of a non-linear dynamic system with multiple input and output signal channels for the developement and testing of virtual sensing and forward prediction algorithms. It also includes predictions of a frequency response function model, which can be used as a benchmark for comparison with novel algorithmic approaches. The dataset contains measurements from a three-component servo-hydraulic fatigue test bench for suspension hydro-mounts. The sensor setup of this test bench consists of 3 inertia compensated force and 3 displacement sensors. Various non-linear influences affect the system behavior. The hydro-mounts are filled with oil to provide highly non-linear dampening, while the pendulum kinematics of the test bench introduce non-linear interactions between the excitations in different spatial directions. The most impactful non-linearity results from the system stiffness.

This work develops a strategy to benchmark image analysis tools that can used for the determination of contact fabric from tomographic images. The discrete element method is used to create and load a reference specimen for which the fabric and its evolution is precisely known. Chosen states of this synthetic specimen are turned into realistic images taking into account inherent image properties, such as the partial volume effect, blur and noise. The application of the image analysis tools on these images validates the findings of the metrological study and highlights the importance of addressing the identified shortcomings, i.e., the systematical over-detection of contacts and the strong bias of orientations when using common watersheds.
For the 2019 issue of Array, we focus on the idea of“Agency”in electronic and computer music, explored through the artistic and theoretical reflections of composers, performers, engineers, and musicologists. How do algorithms and artificial intelligences create a particular character through the decisions they make? How do we interpret the intention of nonhuman agents in the process of musical creation and analysis? Is it possible to tell the difference between the intention of outside agencies from a projection of our own biases? How does the surrounding context integrate into the work itself? The writings present a collection of contemporary approaches and perspectives from the field, examining topics ranging from the agency of digital signal processing and sonic analysis algorithms, to the design of inclusive instrument systems, object based composition, and relational aesthetics.
