AbstractData sets for a seismic P-wave velocity model from a 3D VSP survey at the Alpine Fault DFDP-2 drill site in the Southern Alps in New Zealand containing the used first-arrival travel times and the obtained P-wave velocity model.
Applied methods and techniquesFirst-arrival travel-time tomography
Additional descriptive information to understand the datatravel-time-picks.dat: First-arrival travel-time picks of the 3D VSP data set. Coloumns are: 1) source location number, 2) receiver location number, 3) local x coordinate of the source in decimeter, 4) local y coordinate of the source in decimeter, 5) local z coordinate of the source in decimeter, 6) local x coordinate of the receiver in decimeter, 7) local y coordinate of the receiver in decimeter, 8) local z coordinate of the receiver in decimeter, 9) picked first-arrival travel time in 10^-4 s. ####################################################################################################### vp_model.dat: 3D P-wave velocity model obtained by tomographic first-arrival travel-time inversion. Coloumns are: 1) local x coordinate of grid point in meter, 2) local y coordinate of grid point in meter, 3) local z coordinate of grid point in meter and 4) P-wave velocity at grid point in meter per second. All grid points without ray coverage have P-wave velocity set to 0.
